Congratulations to ALL our amazing B.F. Day Global Reading Challenge teams. I was so proud of the students’ poise, teamwork, and enthusiasm. They should be so proud.
Our winning team, “The Page Hunters,” will go on to represent B.F. Day at the semi-finals on March 12, 2024. Congratulations to team members: Arthur B., Uma J.H., Simone L., Arlo M., Olivia F., and Cora S.!

Series Stars are Setting Reading Records!
Big applause to all our Series Stars for the month of February. Fourth and fifth graders will be invited to join the challenge after mid-winter break! Stop in and see our Series Stars Wall!
B.F. Day Readers Are Busy!
Highlights include:
- In grades K-3 learning about the Caldecott Award, exploring nominees, and hearing this year’s winner.
- In grades 4-5 learning about credible sources when conducting research, identifying search terms for online research, and how to write bibliographies.
- In grades 2-3 the “Series Challenge” where students are inspired to read 3, 4, or 5 books in a series and earn a coveted spot on the Series Star Wall of Fame.
- In grades 4-5 the Global Reading Challenge where six B.F. Day teams have been reading and studying 8 books in preparation for a book knowledge competition.
- In all grades learning about black lives of excellence through literature.
