Family Tours for Incoming Kindergarten & New Students in January 2026
Will your child be 5 years old by August 31? Do you know of a kindergartener that will be in kindergarten at B.F. Day in the 2026-27 school year? We are excited to welcome incoming kindergarten and new students! Register to join us at one of our tours on our PTSA website.
January 2026 Tours
- January 8: Incoming Kindergarten & New Student Tour from 9 – 10 a.m.
- January 22: Incoming Kindergarten & New Student Tour from 9 – 10 a.m.
- January 29: Incoming Evening Kindergarten & New Student Tour from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Tours will include pre-school rooms.
Current Students
Current Students in Kindergarten – Grade 5 do not need to re-enroll for the 2026-27 school year. Students will be promoted to the next grade level at B.F. Day. If you know that your family will be moving or changing schools in the 2026-27 school year, please email Ms. Sonja at smhaas@seattleschools.org. This information helps us in our preliminary budget and staffing process.

Kindergarten SPS Enrollment Information
New student enrollment begins January 5, 2026 for the 2026-27 school year. All registration is completed online. Have Questions? Visit or contact the John Stanford Center, 2445 3rd Ave S, Seattle, 98134. Mon – Fri, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Enrollment help is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Amharic, Oromo, Somali, or Vietnamese.
Open Enrollment for School Choice at SPS
Students are assigned to their attendance area school based on where they live. Families may request a different school through School Choice. - Participate in monthly Dragon Dens where students make connections with staff and students outside of their grade level.
- Host a Village Day where students participate in a market economy.
- Celebrate having a full-time school counselor, a finalist for the district’s school counselor of the year.
- Partner with the PTSA which fosters family engagement and generously supports academic and enrichment opportunities for all students.
In Kindergarten, students…
- Develop early literacy and phonics skills to begin to read independently.
- Learn to write using capitalization and conventions, proper spacing between words, and inventive spelling.
- Learn foundational numeracy skills.
- Apply problem-solving skills to real-life situations.
Seattle Preschool Program (SPP+)
Current SPP+ families, if you are seeking to attend Seattle Public Schools for kindergarten, you must enroll your child in kindergarten. We always encourage enrolling early!
Applications for Seattle Preschool Program (SPP+) TBD. Visit the district website for more information. B.F. Day historically has a long wait list for our two SPP+ classes. Interested incoming preschool families, please mark your calendars to watch for the open date.
Visit the Seattle Education Parent and Child Program site on how to register for preschool at B.F. Day. All preschool registration is managed through the Department of Early Learning.
