Communication to Families
Family Communication: How to Stay in the Loop
Welcome B.F. Day Families to our Communication page we want to keep our community updated about school events, school needs, volunteer support, community updates, new initiatives, and all the day by day happenings. Below is a list of ways we communicate and how. Our goal is to keep you well-informed.
Sun Dragons’ Dayette
B.F. Day emails a weekly bulletin, AKA Sun Dragons’ Dayette, via the school messenger. This information is also updated on our B.F. Day School website. This emailed newsletter is our all-school communication and is sent every week typically on Fridays and includes information that is relevant to the entire school community. Important dates, social events, enrichment information, community celebrations, school-wide volunteer needs, and the latest PTSA news to name a few.
School Messenger
The School Messenger system is used by Seattle Public Schools to email, text, or call our families directly about events, announcements, and the like. If you are not receiving these messages from School Messenger please check your profile in SchoolMessenger as well as your spam email folder.
Note: New families, especially kinders, won’t receive school specific communication until early August when district enrollment finishes and they will then be included in the School Messanger communication. If interested download the School Messenger App, especially for additional languages.
School Website
Our B.F. Day Elementary School website is a great resource for school policy, district news, the school calendar, staff, and more. This site is maintained by staff at the school, as well as volunteers. Please contact the main office directly at 206-252-6010 if you have questions around bell times, policy, procedures, and general school questions.
School Calendar
The B.F. Day Elementary school’s calendar is located on the Seattle School District’s B.F. Day website. The calendar is updated by the Seattle Public Schools, B.F. Day School Staff, and community volunteers. And you can subscribe to have all the dates added to your personal calendar.
PTSA Website
The B.F. Day PTSA (Parent-Teacher-Student Association) website is a great resource for community events, ways to volunteer and current volunteering needs, fundraising events and programs, and more. This website is updated by community volunteers and is a work in progress as they are always trying to better serve our community needs.
PTSA Facebook
On the B.F. Day PTSA Facebook Page: BFDay/Family, the PTSA shares community news, reminders, events, and information on upcoming meetings.
PTSA What’s App Group
The PTSA is excited to share a new way to connect with other B.F. Day families in the 2025-26 School Year: Join the Day Families WhatsApp Group.
