B.F. Day Staffing Allocation for 2025-26
Dear B.F. Day Families and Staff,
Firstly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued engagement, advocacy, and concern for B.F. Day Elementary and its students. Your passion for ensuring that every child receives the education and support they deserve is sincerely recognized and appreciated. Your willingness to go to bat for our teachers and staff speaks volumes about the strength and unity of this community.
I also want to acknowledge that this is an incredibly difficult season. The announcement that B.F. Day will experience staffing changes for the 2025–26 school year is not easy news to share or receive. These changes are the result of a broader, districtwide process that occurs annually and is primarily driven by student enrollment numbers.
Earlier this year, our February forecast projected an enrollment of 332 students for the upcoming school year. However, shifts in enrollment occurred in late April and May due to significant waitlist activity. The positive is that all the students on B.F. Day’s waitlist were assigned to the school next year. It also led to more students being reassigned to other schools of their choosing.
B.F. Day is currently projected to have 303 students in kindergarten through 5th grade for the 2025–26 school year. Staffing is based on the total number of students enrolled, and schools also receive additional staffing and support for students who receive special education services.
These enrollment-based adjustments are part of the district’s effort to equitably distribute resources across all schools. While we wish we could maintain staffing levels at every site, we must align our resources with where students are enrolled to ensure all schools are supported fairly.
We will continue to monitor enrollment throughout the summer and into the new school year.
Your feedback has been powerful and important. It reminds us that behind every number is a story, a classroom, a teacher, and a child. We remain committed to the success and well-being of every student and staff member in our school.
Sincerely,
Timothy Moynihan
Regional Executive Director of Schools
