Parent/Caregiver Checklist

We know there is a lot of information out there! Below are the top 8 things that you can do to get connected and set yourself and your student up for success in these initial weeks.

  • Join the PTSA
  • Join the B.F. Day Family Facebook
    • Sign up to get added to the Contact List for your student’s classroom and hear about PTSA Events. (B.F. Day Teachers can’t share your contact information, you must opt-in to get communication from other parents)

Where to Look for News & Updates

  • Our PTSA website: bfdayptsa.org
  • B.F. Day Facebook BFDayFamily: General school updates, Community events and Enrichment dates.
  • Sun Dragons’ Dayette: Newsletter sent by Dr. Zisko every Friday and included staff and PTSA updates, events, and volunteer opportunites.
  • The Source: School schedules, attendance, assessment scores, fees.
  • Email updates from Room Parents: These are classroom-specific annuncments sent by the Room Parent volunteers collaborating with your student’s teacher and the B.F. Day PTSA.

How to Get Involved at B.F. Day

You can submit a Volunteer Form on the PTSA Website to share your interest, talents, and availability. We can connect you with opportunities and resources ot share your time. Note that ot volunteer in-person at school and on field trips you must submit an application for a background check and complete an online training on the district Volunteer page.

  • In Your Child’s Classroom: Room Parents and Co-Room Parents build a community around your child’s teacher and classroom. Some classes also need reading and math.
  • Around BF. Day: Volunteers in the lunchroom or on the playground can make a huge difference early ni the school year as students and staff are settling into routines.
  • From Home, by supporting event planning, communications and website updates, community outreach, and data entry projects.
  • Supporting School & PTSA Events, like Winter Wonderland, Science Fair, ArtFest, Move-a-Thon, Aryt Party, and Field Day with planning, set-up, or clean-up. Visit the PTSA page.

  • Aug 29: Ice Cream Social. Class Lists posted!
  • Sept 4: 1st Day of School Grades 1 – 5. No early dismissal.
  • Sept 7: Kindergarten Play Date
  • Sept 9: 1st Day of School, Pre-K, K
  • Sept 15: Mariners Game Day
  • October 7: Fall Picture Day
  • November 4: Fall Re-Take Picture Day
  • April 8: Spring Class Picture Day
