Winter Dragon Scales Celebration

December 17, 2021, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Winter Dragon Scales!

As we approach the final stretch before winter break, we look forward to departing into the new year with good spirits, good cheer, and positive behaviors. We are excited to officially launch a winter dragon scale campaign in the last two weeks of school before break. Dragon scales are essentially paper currency that are given to students when they model or exceed behavior expectations. Beginning Monday, all non-homeroom teachers will be distributing special winter dragon scales for students that are demonstrating the B.F. Day Way: caring, engaged, responsible. Non-homeroom teachers include PCP teachers, counselor, admin, office staff, yard duty, SpEd teachers, instructional assistants, and parent volunteers. The winter dragon scales are printed in color on parchment paper and embossed with our school logo. They’re fancy! As students collect winter dragon scales for demonstrating expected behavior, they will be glued onto a class Sunny the Sun Dragon poster. If the class reaches 40 winter scales before Friday, December 17, they will participate in a fun reward activity with office and support staff on the last school day before winter break. Encourage your child to model the B.F. Day Way. Celebrate your child if they report to you that they earned a winter scale for their class. Also, we’re looking for three-four parent volunteers that want to help us on Friday, December 17. We’ll be celebrating the winter season with classes that earned the reward, and we need a couple more pairs of hands to help coordinate and support. We especially need volunteers to come decorate the cafeteria before the celebrations. It’ll be a fun time! Please email nlzisko@seattleschools.org if you’re able to come and celebrate with us.
