Family Surveys
On December 16th, the Seattle School Board voted to reopen schools for PreK, Kindergarten and First Grade students no later than March 1st. Today (Jan 5th), all families with students registered for Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st grade will receive a survey asking that they confirm their intent to return to onsite learning or remote learning. The survey will close on Sunday, January 10th. Your help is vital in guiding the preparation and planning of a safe reopening for staff and students at each unique school site.

Famous Visit
Many famous visits have been made to our wonderful little school. This is a short story about two of children’s favorite entertainers from Seattle past. Myself (Ms. Carrie) included, I simply HAD to watch J. P. Patches EVERY day! Believe me chores and homework had to be completed first, but I didn’t miss a show😊 Timely now because “Gertrude” just departed this earth at year end.
King County Landmarks and Heritage Commission wrote about the event at B. F. Day. Pictures of the visit are below their story:
Two of television’s pioneers, J. P. Patches and Gertrude appeared in Mabel Adkins classroom at B. F. Day School. They performed for the students, presented video from their early day programs on KIRO-TV and answered questions about being in TV during the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s.
TCI Cablevision of Washington is producing a documentary on pioneers of television for History House. The student will be part of the program. Lani Edenholm, Director, local origination for TCE Cablevision is producer and director. The project is made possible by a special grant from King County Landmarks and Heritage Commission.
Other stars appearing in the classroom are Stan Boreson, Brakeman Bill, Chuck Herring, Rod Belcher, Bill O’Mara, Jim French, Kit Spier and Chuck Snyder.
