    PTSA Needs You!

    As we look to next year, several key positions in the PTSA will be open. We ask you to consider taking on a leadership position within this amazing organization. We typically nominate a slate of officers during the Spring general membership meeting, which will take place on May 20th at 8:00 PM. This ensures a smooth transition from one school year to the next.

    This is a very supportive group, and all are welcome to participate. The members are eager to help each other in the work, and our once a month board meeting are low key, friendly and fun. Plus, there is tremendous satisfaction in helping to make our school the best it can be!

    The role of the PTSA will be critical next year, so we are hopeful that we can count on your participation in roles where your talents can shine. The positions open include: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Fundraising Chair, Volunteer Coordinator and Enrichment Coordinator.

    Remote Apology

    Yesterday we held our first fire drills for this school year. We realize this does disrupt on-line learning and for that we apologize. Thank you for your understanding.

    B. F. Day T-Shirts!

    The PTSA has BF Day T-Shirts featuring Sunny the Dragon for all students!  T-shirts for Pre-K and Kindergarten have been ordered and many are available in the office if your little one has not received one. If your child didn't receive a t-shirt last year or you are new to B.F. Day in grades 1-5, please email Janice to get your school shirt!

    Impressed

    We are truly impressed with our in-person parents and their ability to get the attestations for their children in to the Qualtrics system a timely fashion. This really makes our entry for each cohort group smooth. Thank you all for stepping up!

    Arrival/Dismissal Protocol

    To keep all if our children, families, and staff safe, please:
    • Be aware that our current recess schedule has recess times going right up until dismissal bells. Please don’t enter through the gates until the dismissal time. This will ensure that our students can have full access to the yard during recess. For safety reasons, it’s important that we don’t have adults walking onto campus during the school day. Thank you!
    • Wear a mask covering your nose and mouth
    • Six feet distance from adults and children not in your family
    • Meet your student in their line, do not hang out on playground
    • Enter at 7:45, 10:45, 11:30 and 2:30 depending on your Track for drop off/pick up
    • If last person through a gate, please close it
    • Public and parents are not allowed in the building unless you have a prearranged appointment
    • While waiting for lunch near the gym, please be sure your children stay out of the trees and the rain garden. We wouldn’t want a fall and the raingarden is designed to have super pervious soil (not compacted) to absorb rainfall from 3800 sq ft of our roof. Thank you for your attention to these safety procedures.

    Water Bottles

    While our district is supplying Kirkland purified water recyclable plastic bottles for faculty and children, we do have a bottle filling station available. For our environment it would be great for us to bring our refillable bottles whenever possible. Our bottle refill station is near the inside gym door.

    Next Year Plans

    If you plan to have your child attend a private or parochial school next year or are moving out of our district please help us by letting us know. As you know you are not returning to B. F. Day next year simply send an email to cbauer@seattleschools.org or call the office at 206-252-6010. There is 24/7 voice mail if you’d like to call.

    Post Travel Quarantine

    Many families have reached out regarding traveling. Here is the district’s position and recommendations:

    "While the current Washington Department of Health (DOH) guidelines recommend that people traveling out of state quarantine and get tested upon return, the district is not in position to mandate that students or staff quarantine following travel. SPS strongly encourages everyone to avoid non-essential travel during spring break to keep our school communities safe and healthy. If travel is necessary, we are also encouraging students and staff to test upon return."

    Based on DOH's current travel recommendations and requirements, if you are fully vaccinated and are travelling domestically, no quarantine is necessary, but self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. Immediately isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.

    For unvaccinated persons travelling domestically, the recommendation is to get tested 3-5 days after your trip and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel, even if your test is negative. If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel. https://www.doh.wa.gov/Emergencies/COVID19/Travel

    If the student does get a Covid test, please provide test results to the school nurse.
