    The In-Person/Remote Era Continues

    We are happy to report that the policies and procedures that have been put into place for students’ return are working well. I’ve heard from a few families about their experiences, but we are always eager to hear feedback. Please be sure to email either Natalie Zisko or me, if there is something you feel would be helpful for us to understand.

    Please continue to complete a daily attestation. It is helpful to receive a text each day, so be sure to select that option, if a text is easier for you.

    Weekly learning targets will be sent to families on Friday for the coming week.

    PTSA Needs You!

    As we look to next year, several key positions in the PTSA will be open. We ask you to consider taking on a leadership position within this amazing organization. We typically nominate a slate of officers during the Spring general membership meeting, which will take place on May 20th at 8:00 PM. This ensures a smooth transition from one school year to the next.

    This is a very supportive group, and all are welcome to participate. The members are eager to help each other in the work, and our once a month board meeting are low key, friendly and fun. Plus, there is tremendous satisfaction in helping to make our school the best it can be!

    The role of the PTSA will be critical next year, so we are hopeful that we can count on your participation in roles where your talents can shine. The positions open include: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Fundraising Chair, Volunteer Coordinator and Enrichment Coordinator.

    Arrival/Dismissal Protocol

    To keep all if our children, families, and staff safe, please:
    • Be aware that our current recess schedule has recess times going right up until dismissal bells. Please don’t enter through the gates until the dismissal time. This will ensure that our students can have full access to the yard during recess. For safety reasons, it’s important that we don’t have adults walking onto campus during the school day. Thank you!
    • Wear a mask covering your nose and mouth
    • Six feet distance from adults and children not in your family
    • Meet your student in their line, do not hang out on playground
    • Enter at 7:45, 10:45, 11:30 and 2:30 depending on your Track for drop off/pick up
    • If last person through a gate, please close it
    • Public and parents are not allowed in the building unless you have a prearranged appointment
    • While waiting for lunch near the gym, please be sure your children stay out of the trees and the raingarden. We wouldn’t want a fall and the raingarden is designed to have super pervious soil (not compacted) to absorb rainfall from 3800 sq ft of our roof. Thank you for your attention to these safety procedures.

    Remote Student Learning Packets

    If you have missed a packet pick up for your child, the office keeps them. The office is staffed Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. You may press our call button at either entrance to retrieve. Office staff will ask your child’s name and teacher and will bring the packet out to you promptly. Thanks for coming by!


    Next Year Plans

    If you plan to have your child attend a private or parochial school next year or are moving out of our district, please let us know. This will help us to prepare next year classrooms. Please email cbauer@seattleschools.org with updates. We do get a list of kids moving to different Seattle Public Schools. At this time this is how the classrooms may be organized based on next year’s enrollment:

    2 – Pre-school classrooms
    4 – Kindergarten classrooms
    3 – 1st Grade classrooms
    4 – 2nd grade classrooms
    3 – 3rd grade classrooms
    2 – 4th grade classrooms
    2 – 5th grade classrooms or 4 – 4/5 classrooms

    No SBA Testing this Year

    OSPI has determined that the SBA summative assessment will not be administered to children this spring. The state summative assessment window for the 2020–21 school year will be in the fall – a timeline consistent with guidance provided by the Department to satisfy federal testing requirements.

    Post Travel Quarantine

    Many families have reached out regarding traveling. Here is the district’s position and recommendations:

    "While the current Washington Department of Health (DOH) guidelines recommend that people traveling out of state quarantine and get tested upon return, the district is not in position to mandate that students or staff quarantine following travel. SPS strongly encourages everyone to avoid non-essential travel during spring break to keep our school communities safe and healthy. If travel is necessary, we are also encouraging students and staff to test upon return."

    Based on DOH's current travel recommendations and requirements, if you are fully vaccinated and are travelling domestically, no quarantine is necessary, but self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. Immediately isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.

    For unvaccinated persons travelling domestically, the recommendation is to get tested 3-5 days after your trip and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel, even if your test is negative. If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.

    If the student does get a covid test, please provide test results to the school nurse.

    Lost & Found

    Missing one of these? In an effort to avoid giving several bags to charity at the end of the year we will start posting the Lost & Found here, especially since families are not coming into the building. If these belong to you please ask your child to stop by the office to retrieve or ring the bell, let office staff know what you’re picking up and we will bring to you at the door. Happy Finding😊 gloves, umbrella, bag of clothes/walkie talkies, pink sweater, blue jacket, blue button coat, jump rope and a necklace found in February.
